One of the saddest adult life lessons is waiting too long to tell someone how much they meant to and influenced you. When I finally tried to contact this professor of mine from Kean College he had passed the year before. A great man of unorthodox teaching style, love of literature, peace and enormous intellect. đŸ’”

Dr Fyne influenced me more than any other professor during my time at Kean College. Hearing this news saddens me greatly. He was a remarkable person.

Robert Fyne was my favorite professor at Kean College. I was an English major and had him for several courses. Bob was always interesting, intelligent, funny and had a great sense of humor. I enjoyed visiting him over the years talking about the ways things were and the ways things are today and he would always have very interesting commentary on the differences. We also enjoyed talking about movies, especially the old classics. I first had the pleasure of knowing him in 1966 as a freshman and visited him several times up until a couple of years ago. It was always enjoyable to get together. My condolences to his family and friends.

I had the pleasure of taking several of his classes. I bought a copy of Ulysses by James Joyce because he told us it was one of the greatest novels of the 20th century. I always enjoyed learning with him during my time at Kean. My sincerest condolences to all of his family and friends. He will be missed and remembered!

I worked with Bob for the last 30 years. He was a dear, brilliant colleague, who was so helpful on Dostoyevsky and Russia. He had a great, subtle sense of humor and was the most loyal Mets fan. Our department will make a donation to Mother Seton HS in his name. Bob will be deeply missed and remembered forever. Dan Gover, old friend of Charlie DeFanti and Bernie Weinstein.
