Catherine Yanusz, 97

Devoted Mother, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother

Linden – Catherine Yanusz, 97, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 25, 2016.  Born to Matthew and Lucy Rojek and raised in Elizabeth, she had moved to Linden in 1965.

Catherine graduated from St. Patrick’s High School and was a longtime communicant of St. Adalbert’s Roman Catholic Church in Elizabeth, where she was the PTA secretary and member of the Senior Club and Rosary Society.  Catherine worked at Singer Manufacturing Company as a Junior Accountant before retiring after over 25 years at the company. She made skillful and beautiful needle works and was an avid gardener and reader, but most importantly she was devoted to her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Yanusz, who died in 1947; her son, Richard Yanusz and her sisters, Stephanie and Eileen.  She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Brojanowski and her husband, Michael Borton; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Yanusz; her two grandchildren, Stephen Yanusz (Kelly) and Susanne Belibasakis (Nick); her great-grandchildren, Danielle and Christina Belibasakis; her brother, Fred Rojek and many nieces and nephews. Her death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.

The funeral will be from Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Ave., Clark on Tuesday at 9AM followed by a 10AM funeral Mass at St. Adalbert’s Church in Elizabeth.  Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Linden. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
