Stephen R. Yafchak

Stephen R. Yafchak, age 88, passed away on Saturday April 29, 2023 at his residence. 

Born in Irvington, NJ to Stephen and Frieda Yafchak, he resided in Winfield Park, NJ since 1975. Mr. Yafchak honorably served in the US national guard in the 1950s in the armored division. He held several jobs. Originally, he worked for the family business at Linden Tool & Dye, Linden, then as a truck driver, Continental Carries, Inc. and finally owning and operating SY Trucking. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and all-around nature lover. He also spent his time photographing birds and was heavily involved with the Union County Parks and community service. Mr. Yafchak served on countless cleanups and restorations including the Rahway River cleanup. He received several certificates for his service to the program.

He is survived by four children; Roy (Wendy), Laura Dehn(Fred), Gregory (Maureen) and Diana Rocco (Matt); 1 brother, William Yafchak; one sister, Janice Sutton; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Sean, Kaitlin, and Gregory; 3 great grandchildren, Austin, Adriana, and Juliana.

Private Services are being offered for the immediate family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home 211 Westfield Ave. Clark, NJ 07066.
