Stanley “Stash” Martowlis, Jr., age 79, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Born in Bayonne, to Stanley and Cecilia Martowlis, Stash Martowlis resided in Elizabeth before moving to Clark 51 years ago. He honorably served in the US Air Force from 1960-1964. Stash was a member of Teamster Local 877 and worked as a welder at the Exxon Bayway Refinery for 30 years, retiring in 1999. He was also a member of the American Legion of Clark Post 328. Stash enjoyed gardening, trips to the casino, helping his kids and most of all, bike riding and spending time with his grandson, Matthew. Stash was a wonderful man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Stash Martowlis is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Beverly (nee Westrol); his devoted daughter Debra Dillon and her husband Patrick; his cherished grandson Matthew Dillon his brother Gerard “Jerry” Martowlis; his daughter-in-law Tammy Hanna; his sisters-in-law Maureen Powers and Patricia Westrol; his brother-in-law Frank Teran; and many nieces and nephews.
Stash was predeceased by his son, Christopher Martowlis (2021); and his sister, Cecilia Teran.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 3-7 pm at the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Ave. Clark, NJ. A Funeral Ceremony will begin on Monday, November 7 at 9:30am at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Hedwig’s R.C. Church, Elizabeth at 11am. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia where Stash will be laid to rest with military honors.
