MARY BARAN

September 17, 1923 – March 18, 2020

Mary Baran (Smerda), 96, of Clark passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 17, 1923, she resided in Bayonne NJ, for many years and was a graduate of Bayonne High School. After marriage, she briefly lived in Harrison NJ and later moved and resided in Clark for the past 61 years. She was employed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NJ, Newark, as a Customer Service Supervisor for 31 years until her retirement in 1986. Mary was an active member of Clark Recreation Senior Activities and the former Sun & Fun Travel Club. She remained a devoted communicant of St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Clark. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, world travel, Atlantic City, and especially celebrating good times with family and friends.

Mary is predeceased by her devoted husband Stanley of 65 years, son, Steven, her parents, John and Anna Smerda and three brothers and four sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Carr (NJ); granddaughter, Dana Conlon, her husband Ryan; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Rose (PA); and many nieces/nephews and their children and a few close and dear friends.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. John the Apostle R.C. Church followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Please note that all services are private due to the gathering limitations set forth by the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home 211 Westfield Ave. Clark, NJ 07066.
