Madeline Urbanovich passed away peacefully in her sleep February 9, 2024.
At 91 years old, she was the last matriarch of a large and loving family - a beloved mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Madeline Margaret Volinski was born April 15, 1932 in Exeter, PA to Adam and Charlotte Volinski. She was a proud coal miner’s daughter, a proud Lithuanian, a proud Catholic, and a proud member of the greatest generation.
She and her husband Joseph Urbanovich raised their children, Charlotte and Joseph, in Clark, NJ. At one point or another, nearly every person in their family found a home under their roof - whether it was for a day or a year. She hosted holidays and parties, and made pierogis and pies. She watched every Mets game religiously.
She retired as a union president, and returned to work after her husband passed away in 1995. She fought and beat cancer, survived incredible loss, but always kept her wry wit. She loved her grandchildren fiercely.
Madeline is predeceased by her parents, Adam and Charlotte; her siblings, Marian, Johnny, Eddie, Charlotte, Margaret, Barbara, and Eleanor; her husband, Joseph; and her beloved daughter, Charlotte Metz (Luke). She is survived by her son, Joseph Urbanovich (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Joseph Urbanovich (Kimberly), Jennifer Metz, Adam Metz and Joshua Urbanovich (Carly); her great-grandchildren Connor and Addison Urbanovich; and many loving nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
