Joseph R Shukis

Joseph R. Shukis, age 85, beloved husband of Florence (Hilbert), passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at his residence on Saturday March 5, 2022. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Joe is survived by his two sons, Chris and his wife Kim, and Greg and his wife Melissa; five grandchildren, Ian, Kelsey, Sara, Rebecca, and Calvin. His parents, Joseph and Mary, and treasured greyhound “Rip” predeceased him.

Joe resided in Clark for the past 60 years. He was born and raised in Elizabeth. He was a surveyor for Union County, NJ for 42 years before retiring. He had many passions including sports cars, cycling, golfing, and fishing as evident by his favorite stomping grounds: Ray’s Sport Shop, Jay’s Bicycle Shop and Scott’s Shoe Store. He had the unique ability to tell vivid, captivating stories about any activity, whether that was a 100-mile bike ride, running into Jimmy Buffet in the Florida Keys, or catching an elusive trout. His hobbies and passions were taught and passed on to his children and grandchildren and have turned into countless priceless memories.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation on Wednesday March 9, 2022 from 4-6 pm at the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home 211 Westfield Ave. Clark, NJ 07066. A Funeral Service will be offered On Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 10 am, from the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home 211 Westfield Ave. Clark, NJ 07066. Interment, Hazelwood Cemetery, Clark.
