Halina Z. Hercek (nee Slomczewski), age 84, passed away on Monday December 14, 2020, at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Rahway.
Born in Predecz, Poland, to Tadeusz and Genowefa Slomczewski, Mrs. Hercek has resided in Scotch Plains since 1980. Mrs. Hercek worked as an Office Manager at the Polish Cultural Foundation of Clark for 40 years. She began her association with the Foundation as a volunteer and was an integral part of the official establishment of the PCF as a non-profit organization in 1981. Halina dedicated her life to the promotion of Polish culture and as such also served as a Trustee for the PCF and a was member of the College Scholarship Committee as well.
Mrs. Hercek is survived by her daughter, Halina Hughes, and her husband, Dave; her son, Matthew Hercek; one grandson Connor Gustitus; two sisters, Irene Wall and Barbara Silva and sister-in-law, Ann Slomczewski.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Matthias Hercek (2002) and her brother Leonard Slomczewski (2020).
A Private family gathering will be offered at the KrowickiGorny Memorial Home 211 Westfield Ave. Clark, NJ, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Helena’s R.C. Church, Edison. Entombment, Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.
