Elaine M. (Bonnett) Vigil

Elaine Maria Vigil age 72, passed away on Thursday April 23, 2020, at the Cornell Care and Rehabilitation Center, Union, NJ. 

Born in Newark, NJ to Edward and Liberta Bonnett; younger sister to Edward Bonnett. Elaine graduated from Vailsburg High School, in 1968. She went on to become a loving devoted Mother to three children. Ms. Vigil also sought out careers that spoke to the type of person she was: loving, caring, and kind. For many years she was a nurse’s aid and then became a crossing guard. In her later years she would care for many of the elderly that lived around her.

Elaine was not only a devoted Mother but also a crafty woman that was very artistic. In her free time, she often painted, drew, crocheted, sewed, and even baked. If she wasn’t doing that she would often sing and put a smile on those around her because she had the sweetest voice. Her smile was also infectious and she could often light up any room she was in.

Ms. Vigil was a simple woman who enjoyed family. She was easy to please and was happy with just a phone call, visit, or even a stuffed animal. It didn’t take much to make her heart swell and in return she did the same for those she touched in her life.

Elaine endured a lot of hardships in life but would always persevere. What defined her was her heart of gold and loving nature. She did anything for those around her and in return expected nothing but reciprocated love and understanding.

She is survived by her three children: Kim Ruggiero, Scott Vigil, and Phillip Vigil and six grandchildren, Sara Ruggiero, Erica Boyea, Jacob Vigil, Skylar Vigil, John Ruggiero, & Ryan Vigil

Private services will be offered for Ms. Vigil while New Jersey endures the limitations on travel and gatherings.
