Dolores E. Ondish (nee Yenchek), age 89, of Cranford, passed away on Tuesday June 15, 2021, at the Overlook Medical Center, Summit. “Doree” passed just two days shy of her 90th birthday.
Born and raised in Plymouth, PA, Doreegraduated from Plymouth High School in 1949 and attended Wilkes Barre Business College. She moved to New Jersey in 1964 with her late husband, Stephen Ondish (1997) and lived in Kenilworth for several years before they built a home in Cranford, where she resided for 54 years. Doree lived independently with the support of her dear friends, Helen, Mary, Pat, Virginia, and Laura, who predeceased her in 2018. She was also grateful to the team at Mobile Meals in Westfield for providing her nourishing meals and holiday treats.
Doree worked as a seamstress for many years, most recently at Logo Knits of Clark for over 15 years. She was a devoted caretaker of her husband, Stephen, when he fought a courageous battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Doree was a devout parishioner of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic church in Cranford and attended mass in person until just recently.
She is survived by her dedicated children, Mary Ann Ondish and Stephen Ondish; and many devoted nieces and nephews across the country whose myriad accomplishments made her a very proud “Aunt Doree”.
