Charles P. Messina, age 92, of Bayville, passed away peacefully on Thursday October 31, 2019.
Born and raised in Irvington, to Frank and Mary Messina, Mr. Messina lived in Clark for 30 years and most recently Bayville for the past 29 years. Mr. Messina honorably served in the US Navy during WWII. He worked as a plasterer for Local #4 I.U. Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers from 1950 to 1989. Mr. Messina was a member of the Knights of Columbus Linden Council #2859. He thoroughly enjoyed visits to Maruca's and Jimmy Buff's. Dancing and solving jigsaw puzzles were two of his favorite pastimes. He was famous amongst family and friends for his grilled Jersey crabs in tomato sauce. Most of all he was devoted to his family.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Funeral on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at 8:30 am, from the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Ave., Clark, thence to St. Agnes R.C. Church, Clark, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:45 am. Entombment, St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation, Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 4- 8 pm.
Mr. Messina is predeceased by his beloved wife of 69 years, Dolores T. (Mazur) 2018. He is survived by one son Mark Messina and his wife Linda; one daughter Marci Smith and her husband Henry; five grandchildren Kristin Jennings, Jared Messina, Holly Messina, Ryan Smith and Jordan Smith; three great grandchildren, Elliot and Sloane Jennings and Charles Messina; four sisters, Virginia Tulimiero, Fran Skiba, Patricia Galdieri and Rosemary Gervasio.
