Obituary

Andrew J. Gaffney, Jr., age 71, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday October 3, 2020.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, to Andrew and Catherine Gaffney, Mr. Gaffney has most recently resided in Clark for the past 32 years.  He honorably and proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971. Mr. Gaffney worked as the plant manager at Gregory Packaging of Newark, NJ for 5 years. He was a member of the American Legion of Clark Post 328 and the V.F.W. Post 335 of Cranford. Mr. Gaffney enjoyed taking care of his lawn and fixing everything and anything around his home.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Cynthia E. (nee Tarkington); two sons, Andrew D. Gaffney and his wife Gabriela and Joseph Gaffney and his wife Mary; one daughter Katelyn M. Gaffney; two brothers, Peter and John Gaffney; four grandchildren, Olivia, Sean, Gavin, and Lilah Gaffney.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation on Friday October 9, 2020, from 4- 7 pm, at the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home 211 Westfield Ave. Clark, NJ 07066. A Funeral Ceremony will begin on Saturday October 10, 2020 at 8:30 am, then processing to St. John the Apostle R.C. Church, Linden, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 am. Interment, Mount Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Queens, NY. In lieu of flowers, kindly offer donations, in his memory, to the ALS Association ALS.org.
