Alvin L. Lerner, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 21, 2023, surrounded by his family at his residence.
Al was born in the Bronx, NY, to Samuel and Ann Lerner and grew up in NYC with a brief stint in Philadelphia. After his time in the Army and graduating from college in New Paltz, NY, he married his wife of 69 years. They moved to Colonia and resided there for 56 years before moving to Clark. Mr. Lerner, an industrial engineer by training, served as the director of plant operations for Maidenform, working in Bayonne for 40 years, before retiring. He loved an efficient operation which carried over into his volunteer work at several organizations such as the Liberty Science Center, the Woodbridge Youth Services and the Woodcrest Active Adult Community. He was also a member of the Jewish Community Center of Edison for many years.
Mr. Lerner is survived by his beloved wife Seena Lerner, three children, Stuart Lerner (Sandra), Marcie Tardiff, Sharon Dombro (Bill), nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was a well loved husband, father and grandfather who gave all those who loved him inspiration and wisdom they will forever carry.
