Irene "Nina" Paragioudakis

Irene “Nina” Paragioudakis, 83, of Elizabeth, NJ, died peacefully on Friday, April 07, 2017 surrounded by her children at Monmouth Medical Center.  Born in Karpathos, Greece, she was a longtime resident of Elizabeth, NJ.

Nina and her husband owned the Dynasty Diner in Elizabeth, where Nina worked as the manager and hostess. She was a member of the St. Demeterios and St. Fanourios Greek Orthodox Churches.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and best friend.  She loved to cook and received great satisfaction when preparing meals for her family, friends, and children’s friends.  Her greatest joy in life came from caring for her children and grandchildren, whom she adored.  Her passion for her heritage and preserving the traditions of her homeland will long be remembered. 

Nina was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Paragioudakis, who died in 2014. She was also predeceased by her parents, Stavros and Maria Barberopoulos; her brother, Dino Barber and her sister, Sofia “Foula” Halkias. 

She is survived by her loving children; George Paragioudakis and his wife Frances, Maria Lyristakis and her husband Nick, Dr. Steve Paragioudakis and his wife Zoe, and her cherished grandchildren; Sofia, Nina, John, Nina, Manny, John, George, Manolis and Evdoxia.    

Visitations will be held on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Avenue, Clark. A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. on Monday at the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 721 Rahway Ave., Union. Entombment to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
