Albert Hoffman, 86, of Clark, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth. Albert was born in Irvington on August 2, 1931 to Lena and John Hoffman. After prolonged illness in the family, his mother and father had to give him to foster parents, Ruth and Valentine Scheppard. Albert and the Scheppards moved to Union on August 1, 1940, where Albert attended elementary and high school, graduating in 1949.
Albert served in the US Army, where he served at the Assistant Manager of the Px in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1955, after which he attended Montclair State Teacher College, receiving his B.A. in Science Education. He then received an appointment in 1960 from the Linden Board of Education, where he taught Biology and Environmental Science. Albert also did work with the Red Cross and the local food pantry after retirement.
He met and married Louise Madden of Elizabeth in June 1964, living first in Elizabeth before moving to Clark. He is survived by his beloved wife, Louise, and dear sister, Edna Howard.
Visitation will be at Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Ave., Clark on Monday from 2-4PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10AM at St. Helen’s R.C. Church in Westfield.
