Joan Wisniewski DiGrazio, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday (May 6, 2017) at Genesis in Westfield. Born and raised in Jersey City, she lived in Clark for 20 years before moving to Colonia and then lived at Golden Age Towers in Rahway.
Joan worked for the board office of the four regional high schools in Springfield for 11 ½ years before retiring. She had also worked part-time for Macy’s. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering at Rahway Hospital.
She had taught CCD classes at St. John the Apostle in Clark and at St. John Vianney in Colonia for a number of years. She loved dancing and socializing with friends, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Carl and Veronica (White) Orrick; her first husband, Raymond Wisniewski and her second husband, Nicholas DiGrazio; and her sons, Raymond Wisniewski and Ronald Wisniewski. Surviving are her daughter, Madonna Weltman (and her husband, Daniel), her son, Robert Wisniewski (and his wife, Debbie – and her son, Christopher); her sister, Barbara McGlynn; nine grandchildren, Robert, Heather and Bethany Wisniewski Corinne and Kyle Weltman (and his wife, Jackie), Ronnie and Ryan Wisniewski and Tyler Wisniewski; and two great-grandchildren, Robbie Wisniewski, III and Ryan Weltman.
The funeral will be from Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Ave., Clark, on Thursday May 18th at 10 AM followed by a funeral Mass at St. John Vianney R.C. Church, 420 Inman Ave., Colonia, at 10:45. Interment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 PM to 7 PM.
