Brett Michael Bacek

Brett Michael Bacek, 33, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016 at his home in Jersey City. Brett grew up in Clark and lived in his beloved Jersey City for the past ten years.

Brett began his career in the hospitality industry working at Dorrian’s in Jersey City and The Palm in New York City.  After passing his Series 7 exam, he spent time on Wall Street. He later left to pursue a career in real estate, and most recently worked as a sales associate with NestSeekers International in Jersey City.

He was a fun-loving young man who brought light and joy wherever he went. From his dear friends both in Jersey City and Clark, to co-workers and clients, to the barista at his local coffee shop, Brett made friends wherever he went and left a lasting impact on them all.  He had an incredible way of connecting with people and used this gift to help many as they managed their own sobriety.

Brett lived life to the fullest. You could often find him on the slopes with his snow board, skydiving on a random Tuesday, or traveling the state for the perfect hot dog. And two things were always certain at family events: Brett would be the best dressed and he would have the best story to tell.

Brett leaves behind his loving mother, Anna (Primich); his brother, Scott (and his wife, Ediee); his sister, Laura (and her husband, Kevin); his nephew Christopher and his twin nieces Ryan and Bianca. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly, including Mickey Ashmont (his best friend since Kindergarten).

He was predeceased by his father, Donald (2014), his maternal grandparents Mike and Anna Primich (De-De and Ba-Ba), his paternal grandparents Anthony and Frances Bacek and his 'beautiful' Aunt Lorene Primich.

The funeral will be at Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Ave., Clark, on Thursday, December 22 at 10 AM followed by 11 AM funeral services at St. Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church, 1405 St. Georges Ave., Rahway. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21 from 3 PM to 9 PM. Donations may be made in Brett’s memory to Prevention Links (preventionlinks.org).
